Puna Playgroups

Ngā puna kōhungahunga (Puna) are playgroups where whānau with young tamariki meet together to play and learn. Puna meet in different settings in the rohe but they all have one thing in common – a focus on learning te reo Māori and tikanga.

Puna are playgroups where whānau with young tamariki meet together to play and learn. Puna also provide an informal support network for whānau and encourage mātua to learn about the education needs of their tamariki and to see the importance of their role in their child’s early education.

Whānau and mātua come to view play as a valuable tool for children’s learning, growth and development.

Te Rūnanga 0 Whaingaroa operate a range of Puna in the Kaeo Whangaroa area including one in Kaeo township, Te Nohoanga in Whangaroa and one out at Wainui Bay.
